Thyritop News: Pyrocontrole completes the range of power controllers with the birth of the latest model, the Thyritop 101.
Compact and practical, the Thyritop 101 operates in synchronous Burst firing mode with logical control. The relay is activated when the voltage falls to zero and deactivated when the current falls to zero. It is designed for use in applications involving high transients.
Its current rating is from 15A to 90A. Single-phase, with communication at zero voltage, for resistive loads, it is ideal for packaging machines, clothesmaking machines, extrusion lines, overs, thermoforming machines, etc.
For more than 30 years, Pyrocontrole's Thyritop controller has been the essential instrument for controlling currents, voltages and power in industrial electric heating processes. Today,it is also being used for a new application: energy performance.

A year ago, we highlighted the projects of one of our customers, Adial, the leader for fresh pizza distributors. Here, Stéphane Bescond, reliability manager in Adial's Quality Department, answers our questions about working with Pyrocontrole.
- What is Adial's core performance sector?
Manufacturing automatic food service machines! Adial is based near Pont l’Evêque in Normandy (France), and its business involves designing, manufacturing and maintaining automatic pizza vending machines. We currently lead the automatic pizza distribution market. Our PIZZADOOR vending machines can produce an average of 50 pizzas a day, all year round, which makes us very proud!
- How long have you been customers of Pyrocontrole?
We have been working closely with Pyrocontrole for 6 years now, after we encountered availability and reliability problems with our previous partner. Pyrocontrole was recommended to us and we had received positive feedback from customers! Word of mouth got the ball rolling. The proof? Pyrocontrole has been supporting us and helping us to speed up our development for 6 years now.
- Which products do you use?
The Statop 548 temperature controller. We found the controller offered by Pyrocontrole simple and intuitive to use. The internal energy meter was the main feature behind our decision, as it calculates and indicates the energy consumption, which is ideal for controlling costs and decarbonizing our processes.
- What future projects are currently being developed with Pyrocontrole?
- The new PANIDOOR automatic Panini vending machine! The machine can hold up to 76 paninis of all sorts. The computer will manage the stock of paninis in the cold storage chamber and their use-by dates. Customers will be able to enjoy a hot panini in less than 3 minutes. The customizable customer interface will be easy to use, as will the 24/7 remote management function, which can be used to program email stock reports to give you a view of your vending machines' statuses remotely and in real time!

Pyrocontrole, part of the Chauvin Arnoux Group, has just been awarded 605G certification by the Stellantis Group to supply power controllers in order to optimize the production lines, particularly for the PSA Group.

Stellantis is the international automotive group created by the merger of PSA and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles in 2021, which is behind a total of fourteen brands including Citroën, Peugeot, Fiat, Maserati, Lancia, Jeep, etc.
Pyrocontrole will be supplying Thyritop 500 and 600 models for the largest automotive foundry in Europe at the Stellantis factory in Charleville-Mézières (Ardennes, France). The controllers will help to optimize the operational and energy efficiency of the furnaces for manufacturing rough-cast blanks made of spheroidal-graphite cast iron and aluminium alloy (parts for the power trains and the road/vehicle interface) for the machining and assembly units, as well as the bodywork paint curing tunnels.
Moreover, this industrial site, which has been ISO 14001-certified since 2002, has joined the drive to control the environmental impact in total agreement with Pyrocontrole, helping to decarbonize and reduce the ecological footprint for society.

No power cuts this winter!
The temperatures and weather in the next few months will have a very significant impact on people's energy consumption, with the risk that electricity may temporarily no longer be supplied in certain places.
To be able to implement the behaviors or management practices needed to cut electricity consumption, you have to make a survey of your electricity consumption per usage and per location : heating, ventilation, lighting, etc.
With the Ulys MCM from Chauvin Arnoux Energy there is no risk of a power cut this winter.
This new, innovative multi-feeder meter from Chauvin Arnoux Energy addresses this issue of available space in existing electrical installations. These 18 three-phase or 54 single-phase electricity meters in one product, in a volume equivalent to two meters. Its compact dimensions mean it can be integrated quickly and easily in any situation.
The Ulys MCM measures the current by means of a wide range of current sensors which are easy to install on any conductor: wire, cable, multicable, copper bar, etc. The split-core sensors can be opened, so they can be set up without cutting off the power and they are suitably sized: 6 current transformer models (from 5A to 600 A) and 2 flexible Rogowski coil sensors (up to 3,000 A).
The latest product, the TCCV 1050, is a 50 A current transformer which is particularly suitable for the building sector, where large numbers of electrical feeders are protected by 32 A or 40 A circuit breakers.
In the case of the building industry, we will seek to analyze the consumption for each type of use: heating, ventilation, lighting, etc. In addition, there are also certain specific types of consumption depending on the buildings involved: for example, a food shop will pay particular attention to the area containing the refrigerated sales cabinets. For the largest tertiary sites, it will also be necessary to trace consumption by the different buildings so that any energy-hungry buildings can be identified.
Electrical power distribution usually follows the functional setup of the sites. It will thus be possible to measure each usage and each location by equipping the right feeders with electricity meters.
Usually grouped in the same electrical cabinets or in the same electrical room, a large number of meters are installed in the same place: either inside existing cabinets or, when the available space is limited, in additional boxes set up alongside the measurement points.

Relays, static contactors and power controllers are necessary in all industrial processes. They are ideal replacements for electromechanical power contactors.
Usually controlled by control loops, thyristor power controllers handle switching of high electrical powers.
Indeed, their solid-state operating principle eliminates the contact wear problems encountered with electromechanical systems, leading to costly production downtime. To increase the time between two contact changes, the contactor's switching period is extended, causing deterioration of the control loop.
Electromechanical contactors are designed to switch the power without worrying about the electrical disturbances generated on the network. The higher the power to be switched, the greater the disturbances on the network, which may in turn cause malfunctions on the electronic equipment installed on the network in question.
Thyristor controllers offer a much longer life span with very fast switching rates. On high-value resistive or inductive three-phase or single-phase loads, they offer high accuracy at the level of the control loop. The switching operations are performed when the mains voltage falls to zero, thus minimizing electromagnetic disturbances.
Applications like drying, melting or heating plastics or metals often require very close control of the temperature processes. Automation of temperature control guarantees that precise temperatures are reached, thus ensuring that the energy devoted to heating is used efficiently. So the installation of a power controller enables more efficient use of the raw materials while reducing energy consumption and decarbonizing your processes by adapting your energy consumption to match your requirements.
